Hosea House is truly a home rather than a “facility." It is attractive and warm. At 3200 square feet, it has four (4) resident bedrooms, plus a bedroom for the house-parents. It has three (3) bathrooms for residents, one for the house-parents, and one for visitors. The kitchen/dining area and living room are spacious. We house up to six (6) adults-fewer when children are living here. The house is on a little less than an acre of land. Woman may walk the land, but not leave the property without staff.
We are located in the small town of Manteo, North Carolina on Roanoke Island.
Because of the limited number of residents, women receive a lot of individual attention. Residents share in the house and yard work, preparing meals, studying together, praying together, and worshipping together. No one is to “hang-out” in their bedrooms between 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Recovery is worked out openly in a family-like setting, and frequent private counseling sessions with the Director. The staff does not change anyone-that is between you and God. Hosea House provides the knowledge, encouragement, direction and environment for each individual to develop their personal relationship with the Lord.
We believe that the root of addictions and undesirable behavior is a lack of trust and obedience to the Lord. There is also a “renewal of the mind” needed to transform from worldly ways to lining up with Jesus Christ. Obedience to authority in the house is critical to successful recovery. It was critical in the Garden of Eden, too. If a woman comes in with the mindset that she is going to make this ministry run according to her desires, she has already dynamited her success. Obedience in Hosea House prepares one to obey God. Jesus said, “Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me.” (John 14:21)
Hosea House has been a ministry to women since 2004. At its inception the ministry operated as a branch of Faith Outreaching Hands Ministry.
Initially, the Director and her husband housed women in their private home. The present home opened in 2013.
In 2019 Hosea House became an affiliate ministry of Greater Love World Outreach Ministries.
Hosea House is nondenominational and nonprofit (a 501-c-3 organization).
All staff are volunteer.
